Quick Mill Rubino Plus Instant Stability – A Heated Brew Group in a 265mm Footprint

The Rubino Plus has always been the answer for people who wanted prosumer capability without surrendering half a kitchen bench. At just 265mm wide it is narrower than most microwaves. The Instant Stability version keeps that footprint and solves the one thing that still made a heat exchange machine inconvenient: the wait.

Instant Stability is Quick Mill's thermal management system. An active heating element sits inside the brew group itself, run by its own dedicated PID, so the group comes up to temperature alongside the boiler rather than trailing half an hour behind it. The machine is ready to use in about 12 minutes, and just as importantly it holds temperature through the whole extraction and between one shot and the next.

An OLED display handles the rest β€” pre-brew time, standby, eco mode, shot timing and low water warnings, all adjustable without a manual in your lap. The distinctive twin pressure gauge shows boiler and pump pressure in real time, so you can see what the machine is doing while you learn it.

Here is the detail:

  • Instant Stability heated group: An active heating element inside the brew group with its own PID. Ready in around 12 minutes, and thermally steady shot after shot rather than only when fully heat-soaked.
  • Quick Mill E61-style brew group: A passive thermosyphon loop circulates hot water continuously for consistent group temperature, with the familiar E61 pre-infusion feel as pressure builds through the first seconds of the shot.
  • Stainless steel mushroom: The shower screen assembly uses stainless rather than brass, so it resists corrosion and stays cleaner across years of backflushing and detergent cycles.
  • 1.8L insulated stainless heat exchange boiler: Pull espresso and steam milk at the same time. The insulation keeps standby losses down on a machine you will now leave off more often.
  • Vibration pump with pressure stabiliser: A Quick Mill exclusive that cuts pump noise by around 30%. Less buzz, more hum β€” a real difference in an open-plan kitchen.
  • OLED display: Temperature, extraction time, settings and low-water warning on one screen.
  • Programmable pre-infusion: Set the pre-brew time yourself and gently saturate the puck before full pressure arrives.
  • Programmable standby and eco mode: Have it warm when you want it and off when you don't.
  • Twin-scale pressure gauge: Boiler and pump pressure at a glance in Quick Mill's distinctive red-faced dial.
  • Anti-scald steam and hot water wands: Multidirectional and safe to handle, with Quick Mill's ergonomic taps.
  • Automatic boiler refill: Electronic level probe tops the boiler up, with a magnetic sensor and alarm for an empty tank.
  • 3L water tank: Unusually generous for a machine this narrow. Fewer refills, less fuss.
  • Full stainless steel body: Mirror-finish 304 stainless throughout.

Rubino Plus Instant Stability or the standard Rubino?

The standard Rubino shares the same 1.8L heat exchange boiler, the same 3L tank, the same 265mm footprint and the same quiet pump. What the Plus Instant Stability adds is the heated brew group and its dedicated PID, the OLED display, the second pressure gauge and programmable pre-infusion, standby and eco modes.

Put plainly: the base Rubino is a lovely mechanical machine you manage by flush timing and feel, and it wants a proper warm-up. The Plus Instant Stability is ready in twelve minutes and tells you what it is doing. If you make coffee on weekday mornings under time pressure, that difference is worth the money. If you are a weekend brewer who enjoys the ritual, the standard Rubino is excellent value.

How does it compare to a Rocket FAST or ECM Synchronika II?

Quick Mill, Rocket and ECM have each arrived at the same solution β€” an actively heated brew group β€” by slightly different routes. The Rubino Plus Instant Stability is the most affordable way into that technology, and by a wide margin the most compact. What you give up against a Rocket Giotto FAST R is the rotary pump, the option to plumb in, and the larger machine's steam reserves for back-to-back milk work. For one or two people making a few coffees a day in a normal kitchen, the Rubino Plus does the job for considerably less.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Instant Stability?
It is Quick Mill's thermal management system. An active heating element is built into the brew group and controlled by its own dedicated PID, separate from the boiler. On a conventional heat exchange machine the group is warmed indirectly and takes 25 to 30 minutes to settle. Here it heats itself, so the machine is ready in around 12 minutes and holds temperature between shots rather than drifting.

Is this a real E61 group?
It is Quick Mill's own take on the E61 design β€” same passive thermosyphon principle, same pre-infusion behaviour, standard 58mm portafilter. The notable difference is a stainless steel mushroom instead of brass, which handles years of backflushing and cleaning detergent better.

Can I brew and steam at the same time?
Yes. It is a heat exchanger, so brew water is drawn through a tube inside the 1.8L boiler and espresso and steaming run simultaneously.

Can it be plumbed in?
No, this is a tank-fed machine. The 3L reservoir is large for the size, so refills are infrequent. If you want a plumbed machine, look at the Quick Mill Aquila or the Rocket Giotto FAST R.

How loud is it?
Quieter than most vibration pump machines. Quick Mill's pressure stabiliser cuts pump noise by around 30%, which in practice turns the usual buzz into a lower hum. It is not silent like a rotary pump, but it will not dominate a kitchen conversation.

Will it fit under my overhead cupboards?
It is 358mm tall and 265mm wide, so it fits where most machines in this class will not. Allow clearance above to lift the brew lever and to fill the tank.

What grinder should I pair with it?
The grinder matters more to your shot than the machine does. Quick Mill's own Sirio is a natural match for the footprint, or see our full coffee grinder range and we will help you choose.

Every Quick Mill machine we sell is genuine Australian stock backed by a 2 year factory warranty and supported by our own Illawarra-based service technicians with genuine parts on the shelf. We are not a drop-shipper β€” if something needs attention in year three, you have a real workshop to call.

Pairs well with

We have flat rate shipping for our home coffee machines to most locations in Australia. For some remote locations, we will have to quote the shipping costs separately before sending the machine

We like to bench test our machines before dispatch, so it may be a couple of days before we send them out.

No barista experience needed β€” we'll walk you through it. Every machine we sell comes with setup guidance, and if something's not right after it arrives, our own technicians handle the repair β€” not a call centre overseas.

New to espresso? We're happy to talk through grind size, tamping, and getting your first shot right

Something wrong? We service what we sell β€” real support, not a warranty card and a phone number that goes nowhere.

We Aim to Match, But Conditions Apply!

We strive to offer the most competitive prices in Australia for all your coffee brewing needs. While we're confident in our pricing, we're human, and occasionally, a competitor might slip a lower price past our radar. That's where you come in! If you spot a better deal elsewhere, we'll gladly match it, with some fair conditions to ensure a level playing field.

Here's the scoop:

  • Aussie rivals only: The competitor must be an Australian retailer with prices in AUD and shipping from within our great nation.
  • Brand buddies: They must be an authorised retailer of the specific brand you're eyeing.
  • Twinsies, please: The product needs to be an exact match, brand new in its box, and readily available.
  • Delivery included: We'll factor in the competitor's delivery cost for an apples-to-apples comparison.

Now, for some exceptions, where our price-matching magic might not work:

  • Cashback & discounts: We can't match deals involving cashback offers or special discount coupons.
  • Bulk buys: Commercial quantity pricing is a different beast, so we won't match those either.
  • Clearance frenzy: Stock liquidation sales are temporary deals, and we can't keep up with their ever-changing prices.
  • History can't be rewritten: We can't adjust past orders that have already been processed.
  • Auction arena: Prices from auction sites like eBay or Catch of the Day aren't eligible.

The rare exception:

In extraordinary situations, we might not be able to match a competitor's price exactly. But don't worry, we'll still offer you the best possible price we can, because your coffee happiness matters to us!

So, there you have it! With these guidelines in mind, feel free to share any lower prices you find, and let's brew up some fair competition!

Common Questions

No β€” we show you what to do and how to pull the best shot out of your machine before you take it home. If you're from out of town, we can preset your machine so you're pulling great shots as soon as you unbox it. One small thing to be aware of: there'll be some residual coffee grinds left in the grinder from setup β€” we clean it out as best we can, but can't remove every last trace.

All of our home machines come with a 24 month factory warranty (unless listed differently in the spec table) and all grinders come with a 12 month factory warranty.

Having always bought my coffee from cafes, I’m a total newbie at this whole at-home caper. Daniel was so patient, enthusiastic and helpful. The products showed up within a few days and I was given heaps of clear direction about how to use everything. Saving myself a fortune and I’m really enjoying being more capable, not to mention the smell of my home has improved. Well done guys. Great job.
