Wendougee DATA-S β Full Pressure and Flow Profiling, Without the Decent Price
Most espresso machines give you one pressure curve and ask you to work around it. The DATA-S gives you the whole graph. A commercial-grade gear pump, driven by an app, lets you set and repeat pressure and flow anywhere from 0.1 to 12 bar in 0.1 bar steps β and then pull the same shot again tomorrow.
This is a dual boiler machine: a 1.8L stainless steam boiler and a separate 0.8L stainless brew boiler, each independently controlled. Brew temperature is set and held on its own boiler rather than borrowed from the steam side, and a saturated group head keeps the extraction point thermally stable. The steam is genuinely strong β owners report taking 10oz of milk to temperature in about 20 seconds.
It is not a beginner's machine, and we would not pretend otherwise. If you want to press a button and get coffee, buy something else and we will happily point you at it. If you want to profile a shot, save it, share it and repeat it exactly, this is one of very few machines under $6,000 that will do it.
Why the gear pump matters
Vibration pumps pulse. Rotary pumps are smooth but hold one pressure. A gear pump is smooth and variable, which is what makes real profiling possible β the machine can hold 3 bar for pre-infusion, ramp to 9, then decline through the shot, and do it identically every time.
Maximum flow is 12 ml/sec. Most vibration pump machines top out around 7. That headroom is what lets the machine hit a flow target rather than approximate it. Independent testing found the pump quiet and accurate at both pressure and flow, and noticeably quieter than a Decent.
What is actually inside it
This is where the DATA-S separates itself from machines at similar money:
- Gicar flow meter: A proper commercial flow meter that measures water to the group in real time, enabling accurate volumetric stops. Most machines in this bracket use far cheaper units.
- Wika pressure sensor: German-made sensor monitoring pump output pressure, with a matching Wika manometer displaying steam boiler pressure.
- Stainless steel throughout the water path: Both boilers, the water distributor, the flow block and the brew group are stainless. Hot water lines are copper. The only plastics are the water tank, a silicone line from tank to pump inlet, and PTFE tubing on the pressurised side.
- Saturated group head: Brew water sits in direct contact with the group, so temperature at the puck is what the PID says it is.
- Needle valve flow adjustment: A set screw accessible with a flat screwdriver lets you cap maximum flow if you want to.
The E-Bar app
The DATA-S is controlled through Wendougee's E-Bar app on iOS or Android. You build and store pressure and flow profiles, monitor brew temperature, shot timing and water usage live, get maintenance alerts, and share profiles with other DATA-S owners.
Important: the machine does not include a tablet or screen. Photographs of the DATA-S almost always show one mounted above the machine, but that is an accessory. The machine measures 370mm tall on its own; with a 10-inch tablet mounted, allow around 520mm. You can run it from a phone or mount your own tablet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come with a screen?
No. The DATA-S is controlled through the E-Bar app on your phone or tablet. The screen you see in most photographs is a separate mounting accessory with your own tablet. The machine works fully from a phone if you would rather not add one.
What is a gear pump and why should I care?
A vibration pump pulses and a rotary pump holds a single pressure. A gear pump delivers smooth flow that can be varied on demand, which is what allows genuine pressure and flow profiling rather than approximations of it. It is also quieter than either.
How does this compare to a Decent DE1?
They are the two obvious profiling machines at this level. The DATA-S uses a gear pump where the Decent uses a vibration pump, and owners consistently report it runs quieter. The DATA-S also has a much larger steam boiler. The Decent has a longer track record and a deeper software ecosystem. Come in and talk to us if you are weighing the two β it is a genuine decision, not a foregone conclusion.
Is this suitable for a cafe?
The Australian warranty covers domestic use. If you are looking at a commercial installation, talk to us first and we will recommend something covered for the job.
Is it hard to use?
It rewards someone who wants to understand extraction. The profiling depth that makes it exceptional in experienced hands is more than a first-time espresso buyer needs. If you are new to espresso, we would steer you elsewhere and mean it.
Is it mostly plastic inside?
No. Both boilers, the water distributor, the flow block and the brew group are stainless steel, and the hot water lines are copper. Plastic is limited to the water tank, the silicone feed line into the pump, and PTFE tubing on the pressurised side.
What grinder do I need for it?
A machine with this much extraction control is wasted behind an inconsistent grinder. You want a high-quality flat burr with fine, repeatable adjustment. See our coffee grinder range or call us and we will make a specific recommendation.
Supplied as genuine Australian stock with a 2 year warranty, and supported by our own Illawarra-based service technicians. We are not a drop-shipper β if something needs attention down the track, you have a real workshop to call.
Pairs well with
We have flat rate shipping for our home coffee machines to most locations in Australia. For some remote locations, we will have to quote the shipping costs separately before sending the machine
We like to bench test our machines before dispatch, so it may be a couple of days before we send them out.
No barista experience needed β we'll walk you through it. Every machine we sell comes with setup guidance, and if something's not right after it arrives, our own technicians handle the repair β not a call centre overseas.
New to espresso? We're happy to talk through grind size, tamping, and getting your first shot right
Something wrong? We service what we sell β real support, not a warranty card and a phone number that goes nowhere.
We Aim to Match, But Conditions Apply!
We strive to offer the most competitive prices in Australia for all your coffee brewing needs. While we're confident in our pricing, we're human, and occasionally, a competitor might slip a lower price past our radar. That's where you come in! If you spot a better deal elsewhere, we'll gladly match it, with some fair conditions to ensure a level playing field.
Here's the scoop:
- Aussie rivals only: The competitor must be an Australian retailer with prices in AUD and shipping from within our great nation.
- Brand buddies: They must be an authorised retailer of the specific brand you're eyeing.
- Twinsies, please: The product needs to be an exact match, brand new in its box, and readily available.
- Delivery included: We'll factor in the competitor's delivery cost for an apples-to-apples comparison.
Now, for some exceptions, where our price-matching magic might not work:
- Cashback & discounts: We can't match deals involving cashback offers or special discount coupons.
- Bulk buys: Commercial quantity pricing is a different beast, so we won't match those either.
- Clearance frenzy: Stock liquidation sales are temporary deals, and we can't keep up with their ever-changing prices.
- History can't be rewritten: We can't adjust past orders that have already been processed.
- Auction arena: Prices from auction sites like eBay or Catch of the Day aren't eligible.
The rare exception:
In extraordinary situations, we might not be able to match a competitor's price exactly. But don't worry, we'll still offer you the best possible price we can, because your coffee happiness matters to us!
So, there you have it! With these guidelines in mind, feel free to share any lower prices you find, and let's brew up some fair competition!
