About the Coffee
High in the Pérez Zeledón highlands, in the shadow of Cerro Chirripó, 200 producer associates from CoopeAgri work 250 hectares of volcanic soil across seven mountain towns. This is a co-op with pedigree — founded in 1962 by 391 small-scale farmers, now 8,000 members strong — but what matters in the cup is altitude, terroir, and precision.
Harvested December to February, only the ripest cherries make the cut. At the wet mill, they're washed, de-pulped, and mechanically demucilaged before mechanical drying — a controlled process built for clarity and consistency. Hulling, density sorting, and colour sorting follow, isolating only the densest, most structurally sound beans.
The result: a clean, washed Caturra lot with white nectarine brightness, crisp acidity, and a deep maple and baking-spice sweetness underneath. Bright at the front, syrupy at the back.
Beyond the cup, CoopeAgri reinvests in its growers — medical offices, agronomy support, organic fertiliser programs, and a café showcasing their own coffees. Buying this lot supports that infrastructure directly.
Barista Notes — Espresso
This lot's density and clean processing reward a slightly stretched ratio and patient extraction.
- Ratio: 1:2.2–1:2.5 (18g in, 40–45g out) — opens the white nectarine and washed acidity without tipping into sharpness
- Time: 26–30 seconds — dense washed coffees need the extra contact time to unlock the maple sweetness and build body
- Temp: 93–94.5°C — enough energy to dissolve the sugars; push higher and you risk woody bitterness from the baking spice notes

Here's the scoop:
- Aussie rivals only: The competitor must be an Australian retailer with prices in AUD and shipping from within our great nation.
- Brand buddies: They must be an authorised retailer of the specific brand you're eyeing.
- Twinsies, please: The product needs to be an exact match, brand new in its box, and readily available.
- Delivery included: We'll factor in the competitor's delivery cost for an apples-to-apples comparison.
Now, for some exceptions, where our price-matching magic might not work:
- Cashback & discounts: We can't match deals involving cashback offers or special discount coupons.
